Thank you for adapting and helping others during the challenges of 2020

Melbourne Business School has always been a place of learning, but never quite at the speed of this year.

Like everyone, we had to embrace new ways of doing things and take many of our programs online, virtually overnight.

It's fair to say that we learned just as much as you in changing and adapting to the world we found ourselves in during 2020.

One of the highlights for me as Dean was seeing so many members of our community rise to the challenge of supporting others through COVID-19.

People like Lauren Morrey and Tom Humphries, who mobilised dozens of alumni to offer free coaching for businesses affected by the pandemic.

Or Tony Sprague, an innovation manager who led a team of doctors and engineers to develop a low-cost ventilator for patients.

Despite the challenges of 2020, our students continued to come up with inventive solutions to social problems, like how to boost regional tourism in Victoria after the travel restrictions.

We continued our important work with organisations like Sarawak Energy, Melbourne Health and ANZ to help them prepare for the future.

And we found new ways to connect with you through webinars, online workshops and of course Zoom.

While COVID-19 changed the way that we work, it didn't change our ambition to be the best business school in Australia.

Our purpose is to unleash ideas and leaders for a sustainable future, and we look forward to doing more of that next year, no matter how we have to do it.

Congratulations on getting to the end of what has been a challenging year for all of us.

I hope you get a chance to rest, reflect on what's important and enjoy yourself this holiday season.
