An international executive search firm has been appointed to undertake a global search for a new Dean.

Professor Degraeve will remain in his role until early 2018 and is committed to overseeing an orderly transition to a new Dean.

Mr Ross Barker, Chairman of MBS, said: “On behalf of the Board, I thank Zeger for his pivotal contribution as Dean over the past six years.

“He has undertaken his role with enthusiasm, energy and deep commitment. His achievements include maintaining and enhancing the international standing of the School, modernising the degree program offering, expanding executive education with a presence in Asia and successfully concluding a Collaboration Agreement with the University of Melbourne.

“The School is in a very strong position to continue to thrive into the future.”

Professor Zeger Degraeve said: “After six years as Dean of Melbourne Business School, I feel this is the right time for me to return to research and teaching and also be more available for my family.

“The School is well placed to maintain its leading position in business education in our region. I look forward to continuing to work with the leadership team of the School through to early 2018 and am committed to ensuring a smooth transition to my successor.

“I am proud of what we have achieved at Melbourne Business School since I arrived in late 2011. I am deeply grateful to my colleagues, faculty and staff for their inspirational teamwork and exceptional institutional loyalty, to our outstanding students and alumni and the School’s wider community of supporters for our terrific journey of progress.”

Details of the appointed successor as Dean will be announced once finalised.
