Short Course Enrolment Policy
This policy applies to all individual and group booking enrolments within the Melbourne Business School (MBS) Short Courses and forms part of the Terms and Conditions of Enrolment.
1. Key Definitions
- Program Start Date: The first scheduled date of the enrolled program.
- Program Fee: The fee payable to MBS for enrolment in a Short Course, as published or otherwise notified by MBS at the time of enrolment.
- Cancellation: A withdrawal of an enrolment in a Short Course by or on behalf of a participant.
- Transfer: The act of moving an existing enrolment from one Short Course to another available Short Course.
- Substitution: The act of nominating a replacement participant to attend a specific Short Course for which an original enrolment was made.
- Notification: The effective date of any change is the date on which written notice is received by MBS.
- Credit: A monetary value issued by MBS in lieu of a refund, valid for a specified period and redeemable only in accordance with this policy.
- Short Course: A residential, on-campus or online course offered by MBS as specified on the Short Course website.
2. Changes to Your Enrolment
2.1. Any Cancellation, Transfer or Substitution is subject to this clause 2, and determined in accordance with the following table:

2.2. Substitutions within 29 days of a Program Start Date are not permitted for Short Courses that:
A. Require an application; including but not limited to the following Short Courses, as listed on our website and updated from time to time.
For the avoidance of doubt, these programs will be identified at the time of enrolment.
2.3. No more than two Transfers may be made in respect of any enrolment.
2.4. A Transfer request must be made by the original payor.
2.5. Failure to attend an enrolled Short Course constitutes a Cancellation and the purchaser will not be entitled to any refund or Credit.
3. Financial Terms
3.1. Any Credit issued under this policy is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. Any unused Credit after that period expires and cannot be redeemed.
3.2. If MBS cancels a Short Course, the purchaser is entitled to a full refund of the Program Fee paid. The refund will be processed within 30 business days.
3.3. If a Transfer is to a Short Course with a higher Program Fee, the difference must be paid before the Transfer takes effect.
3.4. If a Transfer is to a Short Course with a lower Program Fee, the difference will be issued as a Credit to the purchaser, valid for 12 months from the date of the Transfer.
4. Support and Extenuating Circumstances
4.1 Notwithstanding clause 2, MBS may, in accordance with this clause 4, approve a Substitution, Transfer or Cancellation and waive or vary the requirements of clause 2 where the participant is unable to attend a Short Course due to extenuating circumstances.
4.2. Extenuating circumstances are limited to serious and unforeseen events beyond the participant’s reasonable control that materially prevent Short Course attendance.
4.3. Extenuating circumstances do not include work or travel commitments, changes in role or employment, or personal preference.
4.4. Any request under this clause 4 must be made as soon as practicable to [email protected] or your sales representative and be supported by appropriate evidence.
4.5. MBS will determine any request under this clause 4 reasonably and in good faith, having regard to the nature of the circumstances and the evidence provided.
By registering for an account on the MBS Academy platform, I agree that my enrolment and participation in any Short Course I apply for or enrol into (the Program) will be subject to the following terms:
1. Enrolment changes, cancellations, transfers and substitutions are governed by the Short Course Enrolment Policy in force at the time of enrolment.
2. I/my organisation becomes liable for the Program Fee upon enrolment and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
3. Where a third party is liable for the Program Fee, I confirm I have obtained any necessary authorisation from that third party to enrol in the Program and agree to these terms and conditions on that third party’s behalf, and that MBS may rely on this representation.
4. By submitting my enrolment or application I confirm that I am over 18 or the age at which I can legally enter into a contract in the jurisdiction in which I am applying for the Program. If you are under 18 and wish to enrol in the Program, please contact us to discuss suitability and guardian approval.
5. Where applicable, issuance of a statement of completion or similar recognition is subject to attendance and participation requirements determined by MBS.
6. MBS may make reasonable changes to the content, structure, schedule or delivery of a Short Course, including changes to presenters or facilitators.
7. MBS may refuse admission to, or remove from, a Short Course any participant who breaches the MBS Student Code of Conduct (as amended from time to time), and no refund will be payable in such circumstances.
8. The terms and conditions of my enrolment and participation in the Program I am enrolling in are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia and I unconditionally submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria, Australia.
9. All intellectual property in Program materials, content and courseware belongs to MBS and must not be modified, copied, distributed, displayed, published or commercially exploited. I will not create derivative works from it and must not share online passwords or any other means of accessing Program materials or content.
10. Use of MBS websites is subject to the terms of use available by link at the bottom of the relevant MBS website.
11. MBS may amend these terms and conditions from time to time. Any amendments will apply to enrolments made after the amended terms are published.
