Intel and GSK visit our campus to discuss employment opportunities

This month, two of the biggest global companies visited the MBS campus for separate events to present to our students about career opportunities at their respective organisations.

First to arrive on campus was Intel, a leading manufacturer of computer, networking and communications products and one of the world’s largest technology companies.

The event started off with a presentation from Amit Minocha, Divisional Finance Controller. Amit spoke to our MBA students about what attributes and skills Intel look for in an employee and provided an overview of the unique role that Finance plays as a strategic partner in the Intel business. In addition, he demonstrated a recent release of their ‘computer on a stick’ and discussed the roles that Intel plays in design innovation and the ‘internet of things’.

Following the company presentation, Intel held ‘meet and greet’ interviews with students to determine their role and location preferences, and assess their suitability to Intel for potential roles across the globe. The interviews were conducted both by Amit as well as Beau Gillette, Intel Malaysia’s Finance Director. Joining him in attendance for the event was Felicia Joyce, Recruitment Lead at Intel.

One week later, another global giant paid our students a visit on campus. This time it was GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies with employees in 150 countries.

Presenting on behalf of the company was David Fitz-Gerald, GSK Recruitment Manager for Australia and New Zealand. David spoke about what they look for in talent and explained the GSK Global ESPRIT Program, their global leadership development program in their pharmaceutical and consumer business.

John Gurskey, Director of the Career Management Team at Melbourne Business School says that such visits reinforce the School’s strong connection to business, “At Melbourne Business School we have connections with global, industry leading companies that result in case competitions, internships and full-time jobs all over the world. We continuously strive to build on these connections in Australia and globally to enable our students to reach their career goals.”
