David Frankel (Professor of Economics)

David M. Frankel joined Melbourne Business School in 2017 and is currently a Professor of Economics.
After completing his Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, David was a Lecturer at Tel Aviv University and an Associate Professor at Iowa State University.  He has also held visiting positions at Cornell and Stanford Universities. He is an Associate Editor at the Journal of Public Economic Theory and the Economics Bulletin.
David is an economic theorist with primary interests in macroeconomics and finance.  His research has been published in leading academic journals, including Econometrica, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and the Review of Economic Studies.  His research areas include stock market crashes, crises, business cycles, bailouts, banking competition, securitization, liquidity, and capital structure.
Before his Ph.D., David received an M.Sc. in Sociology at Oxford, where he was funded by a Marshall Scholarship, and an A.B. in Mathematics at Harvard.
