Charles Goode Oration with Cecilia Rouse
The Charles Goode Oration is an annual guest lecture hosted by Melbourne Business School to recognise the work of businessman and philanthropist Charles Goode AC, former chairman of ANZ, Woodside Petroleum and the Ian Potter Foundation. It was established in part to give us a view of the world from outside Australia, and we are grateful to Cecilia for delivering us exactly that.
Cecilia’s insider perspective as the former chief economic adviser to the White House gave us an invaluable, behind-the-scenes look into how US policymakers wrestled with economic decisions related to COVID-19. Through Cecilia, we got a clearer picture of the human toll of the pandemic in the US and other countries, dissected the impact of some major policy decisions, and learnt how the breakdown of some economic models are making it more difficult for policymakers to predict the future.
It was a delight to see the conference room filled with almost 100 senior business leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, as well as Melbourne Business School students and alumni.
Thank you to those who joined us for the support of Melbourne Business School's events program and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
