MBAus Conference 2017 – Lead. Empower. Inspire.
We are proud to announce that Melbourne Business School will host the official, national launch of MBAus – a student-led networking forum to promote the value of an MBA – at the inaugural MBAus Conference on 25–27 August 2017.
Leading the way
Started by MBS students, MBAus has attracted interest from business schools all over the country. It seeks to raise awareness of the value an MBA can bring to organisations and connect MBA candidates with business leaders around Australia.
Conference guests and topics
The inaugural conference will feature workshops and panel discussions on key issues affecting the future of Australian organisations, including:
- Big data and the Fourth Industrial Revolution – Robert Wickham, Salesforce
- Diversity in the workplace – Rhonda Brighton-Hall, Mwah
- Globalising an Australian business – Michael O’Keeffe, Aēsop
- Innovation in start-ups and corporations – Phil Silverstone, Eventbrite
Inspiration through collaboration
MBAus was founded by the Marketing, SRC, and Women and Management clubs at MBS. Over a dozen students, including project leads, project coordinators and others with specialist expertise, contributed their time, resources and design, website and legal skills to bring the forum to life.
MBS Dean Zeger Degraeve said, “Melbourne Business School is home to Australia’s first MBA program, so it is fitting that we are hosting the first MBAus Conference to celebrate what our students developed at our School.”

The 2017 MBAus Conference marks the first of many more to come – and we are happy to say it all started at MBS. Before we go, thank you to all involved for their perseverance and support in getting MBAus off the ground. We take pride in what we have achieved and encourage all MBA candidates to join in this initiative to have the value of an MBA properly recognised in Australia.
