Podcast: What it's Really Like to Study an MBA, and What Happens Next?

Deciding to study an MBA is a major commitment in terms of finances, lifestyle and your future career – so how do you know what you're in for?

That's the question Melbourne Business School alumni Aaron Yeak set out to answer by interviewing five graduates from our MBA, Senior Executive MBA and Master of Marketing programs.

"These guys were pretty amazing and each so different. I saw how their journeys led them to the confidence and skills for talking across business domains, including areas not in their backgrounds," he says.

Aaron's interviews cover the ups, as well as the downs, of going back to school. They highlight the importance of having fun while studying, how to deal with large project portfolios out of the starting gate and the effect that a career transition can have on your life.

"Some came from non-traditional business backgrounds, which I could relate to coming from motor sport, so it was interesting to hear how they adapted in their new roles and how the learning didn’t stop for them just because they finished their studies," he says.

Aaron Yeak is the founder and director of AY Sports Consulting and is currently opening F45 Training Belmont in Perth. Honoured as one of the Australian Institute of Management's Top 30 managers under 30, he speaks actively of the positive impact the millennial generation has on management today.
