Positive Leadership Development

Improve your organisation’s effectiveness as an encouraging leader, through our Positive Leadership Development program.

Together, we explore the effect of positive psychology on workplace behaviour: how generating an affirmative and meaningful culture can cultivate resilience and innovation among your team. Using theory and practice, this program will bolster your communication skills, as well as your personal and professional growth.  

The program may be undertaken in an assessed mode, leading to an accredited Specialist Certificate from the University of Melbourne. Learn more.

Associate Professor Adam Barsky | University of Melbourne

Adam BarskyAdam is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management and Marketing at the University of Melbourne and has held visiting positions at New York University and Universtia de Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. His research focuses on ethical and risky decision-making, organisational justice and emotions in the workplace.

Professor Lea Waters | University of Melbourne

Lea WatersLea is internationally recognised for her expertise in the areas of Organisational Change, Organisational Psychology and Positive Psychology. She is an academic and registered psychologist, with a PhD in Organisational Psychology. She is also a Director of the Master in School Leadership at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education (MGSE), University of Melbourne, and was awarded the MGSE’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2011.


Dates and fees



This program is non-residential. The program fee covers tuition and meals during the workshop. Please apply 4-6 weeks prior to program commencement.

*When undertaken on an assessed basis as part of a Specialist Certificate, course fees are GST exempt.

Specialist Certificate pathway

This program may be undertaken in an assessed mode, leading to an accredited Specialist Certificate from the University of Melbourne. The Specialist Certificate provides the flexibility to tailor your course to your specific developmental needs by choosing from a select range of open programs.
