2022 Guest Speaker - Carolyn Hewson AO
Carolyn Hewson studied Economics at both the University of Adelaide and Cambridge University. She is a former investment banker and has over 35 years’ experience in the Finance sector.
Carolyn was an executive Director of Schroders Australia Ltd and has extensive financial markets, risk management and investment management expertise. Carolyn is currently on the board of directors of CSL Ltd, the Reserve Bank of Australia and Infrastructure SA. She served as a panel member on the Australian Government’s Financial System Inquiry in 2013.
Carolyn is also a former director of BHP Group, Stockland Group, BT Investment Management Limited, Westpac Banking Corporation, AGL Energy Limited, the Australian Gas Light Company, CSR Limited, AMP Limited, South Australian Water and the Economic Development Board of South Australia.
Carolyn was awarded a Centenary Medal for her service to Australian society in business leadership. She is a Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has had a lifelong commitment to the not-for-profit sector. She currently serves Impact 100 SA and Opportunity International.
In the 2009 Queen’s Birthday Honours, she was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia for her service to the community through support for charitable organisations, particularly YWCA, and to business.

2020 Guest Speaker - Joel Thickins
Joel Thickins is a Co-Managing Partner for TPG Capital Asia and Chairman of Capital Asia Investment Committee. TPG’s Asia business, founded in 1994, is one of the most experienced and established Asia Pacific private equity businesses, currently managing approximately US$19 billion in assets.
Joel is the current Chairman of Greencross Limited, Australia and New Zealand’s largest pet wellness and vets platform, and Made Group, one of Australia’s largest healthy food and beverage businesses.
He sits on the Board for clinical research organisation Novotech Health Holdings. He has previously served on the boards of Funlab, Ingham’s and Accolade Wines.
Joel received a Master of Business Administration at the Melbourne Business School and a Bachelor’s degree from Point Loma Nazarene University.

2021 Guest Speaker - Carol Schwartz AO
Carol Schwartz AO is a business and community leader with a diverse career across property, the arts, finance, entrepreneurship, government and health.
Carol chairs the board of several organisations including Equity Trustees, Our Community, Trawalla Group and the Women’s Leadership Institute Australia. She is also Member of the Reserve Bank Board.
Carol has been recognised for her leadership via a range of honours including her 2019 appointment as an Officer of the Order of Australia, 2020 Leading Philanthropist Award by Philanthropy Australia, an induction into the Australia Property Hall of Fame, and a Centenary Medal.
