​Onur Ozgur teaches Economics and Finance at MBS. Before joining MBS in 2012, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Montreal Economics Department in Canada from 2005-2012. Onur has given invited seminars at major North American and European Universities.

​Onur has held visiting positions at Columbia Business School, Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Paris School of Economics, and European University Institute in Florence (as a Fernand Braudel Senior Fellow) among others. He has given invited seminars at major North American and European Universities.  He obtained his PhD from New York University. While at NYU, he was awarded the Outstanding Teaching Award and was elected a Fellow of the Educational Development Program.
His research to date focuses on Social and Economic Networks and Financial Economics. The work he does in Social and Economic Networks is an attempt to put the social man (as we know it) in economics. His work in Financial Economics aspires to provide microeconomic foundations to the policy debates on financial crises and stability, and on comparative advantages of different economic systems. He builds theoretical models to better understand these issues and develop novel statistical methods for prediction and estimation.
